Get up close to some 40 ostriches at this unique breeding farm, set in the beautiful Cape Peninsula

Enjoy a 30-minute guided tour of the Cape Point Ostrich Farm, a unique ostrich breeding farm that opened in 1996. Now a 65-hectare farm, it was established on the site of 19th century Cape Dutch ruins. Thanks to the vision of Angelika and her husband, they revitalised the dormant landscape and turned it into a natural environment for ostrich. Located on one of the most beautiful parts of the Cape Peninsula, you won’t want to miss it.

Free Tea & Coffee included in the 30-minute tour.

The Experience:

Next to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, just 50km from Cape Town, is the wonderful brainchild of Angelika and her husband, now run by their daughter Catherine. Having rescued 65 hectares of desolate land and ruins they turned it into a natural breeding ground for 40 ostriches to thrive and breed. This farm, just over a decade old, is a great experience for all the family and you can enjoy a guided tour of the estate and learn about the life cycle of an ostrich, from egg to adult.

Did you know the flightless ostrich, native to Africa, is the largest bird on earth? Or that they can run up to 70km/h with a 5m stride? Males can grow up to 2.8m and weigh up to 120kg! Learn more fascinating facts at the farm.

If you’re arriving by car, the drive to the farm is one of the great scenic routes of South Africa leading to the Cape of Good Hope, either via Simons Town – where you’ll see the colony of endangered penguins – or via Scarborough.
